2008 marks the 45th anniversary for Johan's Countrywide in Strathroy. This family owned local business started in 1963 by Maurice Rondelez, and his two sons, Johan & Jerome Rondelez in Kingsville, Ontario.

The London Walk for ALS is scheduled for September 27 at the Springbank Park in London. Proceed go to the ALS Society of Ontario and to the ALS Society of Canada. Together they are dedicated to providing the necessary equipment and support services to those living with ALS as well as research for a cure. |
Community Living Ontario advocates for, promotes and facilitates the full participation, inclusion and citizenship of people who have an intellectual disability. Serving over 90 individuals with intellectual disabilities in Strathroy and the northern and western areas of Middlesex County |
WRRC is a community agency committed to serving the needs of abused women and their children and who plays a critical role in raising awareness of woman abuse and in providing shelter and counselling services to women struggling to create lives free from violence. |
Along the road there has been many great challenges, like recessions, the spread of national big-box stores, the flood of cheaply produced foreign goods, and the soaring rise of the Canadian dollar.
While most other local family businesses have fallen along the wayside, Johan's Countrywide/Sleep experience has stood the test of time. I attribute much of this to maintaining the “old fashioned” values of our founders, as well as their spirit for innovation and adaptation.
I believe there are two additional and very important reasons for our success. The first is being surrounded by quality loyal staff and family, who are always going the extra mile, and who are always there to support this local family business. The second is the outstanding quality of our customers who are not just wonderfully loyal, but also very smart discerning shoppers who recognize the value or supporting this local family business and all that it has to offer.
At Johan's Countrywide/Sleep Experience, we are always looking for ways to give back to our wonderful local community. Being this is our 45th anniversary, we wanted to do something extraordinary this year. What we've come up with is Musical Chairity!
